Our Philosophy

Our schools are committed to providing an education of the highest quality that meets each individual child’s needs and abilities. We seek to engender curiosity and creativity in each of them.

Our philosophy underpins all aspects of our Reception to Year 6 programme. The main principles are as follows:

  • We believe that each child should be nurtured, inspired and motivated to allow them to fulfil their full potential.
  • Our approach is holistic with a balanced focus on a child’s intellectual, moral, spiritual, physical and emotional development.
  • We engender confidence and self-esteem, leading to intellectual risk taking and a love of learning.
  • We cultivate values of respect, compassion, tolerance and community responsibility in each child.
  • We are non-selective in our approach to admissions.

Our Aims, Vision and Values

At RPPS, our primary aim is to provide a holistic education, with a balanced focus on a child’s intellectual, moral, physical, creative and emotional development. The education we deliver nurtures, challenges and inspires our children so that they are fully equipped for the next stage in their educational journey and go on to develop a lifelong love of learning.

High expectations underpin our ethos and values. Our classrooms are mistake-friendly environments, and we encourage the children to embrace challenge and respond positively to feedback. We place a high emphasis on Personal, Social and Emotional Development, and children learn from an early age to self-regulate their behaviour, to treat others with kindness and compassion, and to value and celebrate diversity.

We believe that children thrive when they are happy, valued and feel safe. Our Behaviour Culture is grounded in Kindness, Respect, Courage, Integrity and Consideration.

We engender confidence and self-esteem in our children, leading to intellectual risk taking and a willingness to learn from their mistakes. Our Learning Culture is built around the values of Challenge, Questioning, Dialogue, Feedback and developing a Growth Mindset.

We recognise that learning extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. Situated in close proximity to Ravenscourt Park, we embrace outdoor education, encouraging our students to explore, discover and connect with nature. We instill in our learners a commitment to environmental stewardship, fostering an appreciation for the natural world and equipping them with the knowledge and skills to make sustainable choices. Our commitment to a well-rounded education is evident through our extensive array of extra-curricular activities which not only ignite passions and talents, but also nurture skills such as teamwork, leadership and creativity.

Through our association with local charities, schools and other organisations, we cultivate a sense of community responsibility within our pupils so that they understand and appreciate all that they have, and are empowered to give of their time to help and support others who do not have the same opportunities as they do.

Our relationship with parents is central to the success of our school. We are proud of our ‘Open Door Policy’ where we make ourselves available to those who need to speak with us and communicate face-to-face whenever possible. The school is a welcoming place for parents and their involvement in school life is regarded as essential.

Outcomes

Our children are inspired and motivated by outstanding teaching. They are resourceful, resilient, reflective and enthusiastic learners. We give our children the confidence to collaborate, have an opinion and make mistakes in order to learn.
Our children become expressive and confident communicators. They understand the importance of contributing to their community and to each other’s lives. They value diversity and leave school as well-rounded individuals, invariably going on to the secondary schools of their choosing.
